THE CHANGEMAKER CHALLENGE

Changemakers wanted:
share your idea to make travel and mobility more sustainable

Moving from A to B and traveling the world has brought tremendous advantages to our lives and helps connect people all over the world. At the same time, these new opportunities also have negative effects, such as high CO2 emissions and overtourism at travel destinations.

We want to create a better future for travel and mobility. We firmly believe that digital and technological solutions will be one of the most powerful levers for boosting sustainability - help us find them! Do you have an idea on how to make urban mobility more sustainable? Or how to mitigate and compensate the negative effects of travel? Or something that no one has ever thought of? Then pitch us your idea!

To help you get the most out of your changemaking ideas, we've teamed up with major players, each representing an important part of travel, mobility and tech. Finalists will have the chance to pitch in front of high-level representatives from Expedia, Google, Uber and Lufthansa Innovation Hub.

The Changemaker Challenge calls for talented students, professionals and early-stage startups from around the globe to submit their ideas.

SUSTAINABILITY SHOULD BE LIVED ALONG THE ENTIRE TRAVEL JOURNEY
 

We are looking for ideas covering any of the following four areas. They can either have a positive social or ecological impact.

Upgrade to Sustainability

Platforms summarizing various travel products (flights, hotels etc.) often lack transparency or the possibility of choosing sustainable options. We seek ideas that give new impulses for integrating sustainable options, add-ons and services into planning and booking processes.

Disrupt Urban Mobility

Urban mobility should be accessible to all citizens and enable them to be mobile, connected and efficient while acting sustainably. We are looking for ideas that shape the overall landscape of urban mobility in a more sustainable fashion such as services and infrastructure.

The Good Traveler

Traveling can be a burden to local communities and the environment. As a result, decisions that lead to an improved social and ecological footprint should be encouraged. We seek digital solutions that engage individuals in a more sustainable manner at their travel destination.

Beyond Booking

Passengers usually get confronted with carbon offsetting during the booking process and lack such options after. We are looking for solutions that support travelers in their sustainable behavior and decision-making process during their travel, at the airport or on their flight.

SUSTAINABILITY SHOULD BE LIVED ALONG THE ENTIRE TRAVEL JOURNEY
 

For the Changemaker Challenge, the Lufthansa Innovation Hub is partnering with major players from the travel, mobility and tech industries: Expedia Group, Google and Uber. Together, we offer industry knowledge on various areas of the travel journey: planning & booking, travel & mobility, and experience & engagement. We provide a holistic judgement of your ideas: the finalists will have the chance to pitch in front of a jury consisting of high-level representatives of all challenge partners including the Lufthansa Group. The pitches will take place on stage at the Lufthansa Innovation Forum on 4th of December in Frankfurt.
